While we have the Purple Pillow and Purple Mattress, this review is not sponsored or endorsed by Purple. We originally approached them to see if they’d like to work with us, they declined, so you’re getting our completely honest opinion!
Many months ago, I posted for a campaign for one of my blogs about Purple and their new mattress. I was intrigued but their high cost ($1400 for a king size mattress) stopped us from purchasing one. Once we were ready to purchase one, we bought it and loved the Purple Mattress.
However, during our 100 day trial (you can return it for free during the first 100 days if you buy through them), they began a Kickstarter for their new Purple Pillows so we thought we’d buy the king size mattress on Kickstarter which included 2 Purple Pillows as well for about the same price. So we sent back our original mattress and purchased the Kickstarter.
The thing I love about the Purple Mattress is that it is firm but still gives a little. During the time we didn’t have a Purple Mattress when we were returning ours, we slept on our old mattress and it was difficult. We didn’t sleep well and always woke up feeling unrested. Our Purple Mattress allows us to sleep well and we feel like our sleep is much better. However, it’s not as comfortable for side sleeping, but it feels great on the body for side sleeping. We like to describe our old mattress as a mattress that cuddles us but the Purple Mattress is definitely not a cuddler. It’s firm but feels great on the back.
Our Purple Pillows arrived a few weeks ago in 2 small little bags. Like the mattress, they fluff up a bit in the first 24-48 hours. The pillow also includes a booster that you can blow up to give you more height. They are very heavy pillows and firm but when you lay your head on it, your head forms to the pillow and it’s quite comfortable. Their pillows are great for their mattress, as well. With such a firm mattress, it’s good to have a higher pillow to keep everything in your body aligned.
Unfortunately for me, I like very flat pillows and I adjust my pillow multiple times throughout the night. I usually end up completely off my pillow by the end of the night. I noticed with the Purple Pillow, it keeps my head off the mattress quite a bit which is great for those who like thick pillows. As I like to sleep on my stomach a lot throughout the night, it was slightly uncomfortable but did flatten decently for me. The hardest part for me was the inability to move my pillow easily throughout the night, especially when I wanted to sleep on my side with my arm under the pillow. I did, however, like sleeping on my side with the Purple Pillow because it kept my head and neck aligned with my spine so that felt great.
My husband ended up not keeping the Purple Pillow. He didn’t sleep well on it the first night and didn’t give it another chance. My daughter, on the other hand, loves it. She loves how comfortable it is.
Below is our unboxing and opening of the pillows. I just grabbed my brand new phone while he opened it and had no idea you wouldn’t be able to hear him talk. But you’re not missing much. You’ll get a better idea of what the pillow looks like with this Purple Pillow video.
