“Christopher Robin” came to theaters on August 3, 2018. It is rated PG and 1 hour and 44 minutes.
“Christopher Robin” is about a working-class family man, Christopher Robin, and what happens after he encounters his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh, who helps him to rediscover the joys of life.
As a family who loves movies, we are always on the look out for new family-friendly movies. My kids are 8 and 6 so the perfect age to take to the movies. We don’t go too often though because once we watch the family-friendly movie, there’s not many other movies I can take them to. So I was excited to scroll through the movie options and see that there was a new PG movie I could take them to.
Going into the movie, I had no idea what to expect. None of my social media friends had reviewed it for me, I had no idea what it was actually about, and when I went to reserve tickets on our $5 movie day which usually means new movies are sold out by the time I remember to get tickets, there were only a handful of seats taken (which also meant that I got to purchase the luxury seats!) so I was nervous that it was a terrible movie.
That being said, we went to it anyway in hopes of being entertained. I had glanced at the trailer (above) and was a little concerned that my kids would get bored soon after the movie began because it seemed like it would be a slow movie.
Once the movie started, my fears were confirmed. It was going to be a slow movie. Except it was surprising because I ended up loving the movie. I loved all of it. It touched my mama heart when at the beginning of the movie, Christopher Robin says goodbye to all of his Hundred Acre Forest friends. It resonated with me when Christopher Robin grows up and leads a busy life. And I loved the need to find happiness in life. I won’t give away any more of the movie than that but if you’re looking for a sweet, feel-good, family-friendly movie, I’d recommend “Christopher Robin.”
My 8-year old’s favorite was Winnie-the-Pooh. My 6-year old’s favorite was Eeyore. I’ve never been a huge fan of these characters so my kids haven’t had much exposure to the characters but they really loved it.
