These cheese tater tots are gooey with cheese and gluten-free. The tater tots are homemade and simple to make.
Recently I went to a local restaurant and had some delicious tater tots that were full of cheese. Unfortunately for us, it’s a little too far for us to frequent often. Knowing this, I knew I had to make some of my own.
These are delicious. I am trying hard to get some of the processed food out of our house. I’m not the type to go completely extreme and get rid of processed food completely but I do want to make sure that the food we eat is a little cleaner and healthier than we have been this past year, hence the lack of recipe posts. When we’re not making food at home, I have nothing to post.
I’m not a fan of making New Year’s resolutions but this year, I hope to make more food at home and incorporate way more vegetables and fruits into our diet. … Potatoes are a vegetable, right? … Back from my 1990s food pyramid knowledge.
Gluten-free and cheesy
- 1.5 pounds potatoes
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup oil
Wash and peel potatoes. Cube potato and put into a pot of boiling water. Cook potatoes for 10 minutes or until potatoes are just barely cooked.
Use a grater or food processor to shred the potato cubes. Use a cheese cloth or towel to make sure the potatoes are rid of as much water as possible.
Combine potatoes, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cornstarch, oregano, and cheese.
Shape potato mixture into tater tot shapes.
Heat oil in a pan or pot. Once hot, fry tater tots until the outsides are browned, about 4 minutes per side.
Once the tater tots are fried, place on paper towels to drain.
