I have insecurities. I grew up in a white family, in a white neighborhood, in a mostly white school. And I’m not white.
To me, that is my biggest insecurity. I don’t look like everyone else. It may seem silly and a little odd but when you’re that different, and a girl, you notice, even if basically no one else does.
Well this year I am so excited to be a part of the #MyBeautyIs Campaign. You are beautiful in your own special way. I’ve seen all sorts of beauty and I’ve been really blessed to be able to have an understanding of people so much so that I can see their inner beauty, even if I can’t stand the person. I view people how God must view people. And that’s one reason why I’m so excited about this.
Moreover, I want you to join in on this campaign. Take a selfie and tag it with #MyBeautyIs. I want to know what you love about yourself. I want to know what makes you think when you look in the mirror, “Wow. I really do look great.” The more you find those little things you love about yourself, the more you’ll love herself as a whole.
Also, I just want to give a shout out to all of the other bloggers who are working on this.
This may sound weird, but growing up as a white kid in a all white neighborhood I wished I was Asian or Hispanic. I always thought they were so much prettier than white girls!!! My best friend who is Native and Hispanic cracked up when I told her this, it’s funny how differently your perspectives can be, but also how similar!
What an amazing campaign! I am so insecure – especially about my skin and all the acne scars I have from pregnancy when my skin was terrible 🙁
