This is the last and final week of the #MyBeautyIs campaign.
For this last week, I want to emphasize that my beauty is myself. Growing up I always wanted to be somebody else. Everyone else seemed to have it better than I. In fact, at times I will slip and still feel the same way. However, I have come to realize the positive attributes I have and I have come to love myself.
I love that in a sea of white people (basically my entire city and county), I stand out. I love that I am fierce. I love that I am opinionated and don’t mind stating how I feel. I love that I wear my emotions on my sleeve (yes, I was the only one crying through the end of “The Croods” last week at the movie theater). I love that I work my buns off to help others and at the end of the day I’m exhausted and swear to never help someone again. And I don’t … until the next day. I love that I love Mac & Cheese way more than my kids. I love that I hate to be home and therefore have this amazing home that I rarely spend any time in. I love that I’m strong. I love that I have flaws. I love that I’m willing to work for what I have.
And the list could go on and on.
I hope today you’ll sit down and think about all of the great qualities you have. I hope that you’ll learn to love yourself more and more everyday.
