I love Italian food. Having the opportunity to go to Italy and experience authentic Italian pizza was one of my most cherished memories. But if I can’t visit Italy often, I just make pizza in the home often.
I’ve found that using cake pans makes a great dish for a deep dish personal pizza which is perfect for the kids. They love making their own pizzas and putting on their own toppings.
Quick Pizza Dough Recipe
1 1/3 cup warm milk (~110 degrees F)
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups flour
Optional: Use this pizza seasoning mix instead of garlic powder and Parmesan cheese separately
Pizza Dough Instructions
Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.
Combine milk, yeast, and sugar. Let proof about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, it should appear slightly foamy.
The mix in the salt, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and butter. Mix in the flour one cup at a time and knead for 5 minutes.
Let rest 10 minutes.
Split dough and shape into crusts.
For deep dish personal pizzas/cake pans, split dough into three.
Butter or spray pans liberally. Place flattened, crust-shaped dough into pans. Top with sauce, cheese, and your choice of toppings. Bake for 10 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
Let cool for 2 minutes. Then to avoid a soggy crust, place pizza onto a cooling rack.
Cut (love this pizza cutter) and enjoy!
To make the pizza kid-friendly, make sure to allow them to choose their own toppings and apply the toppings themselves. And if you have a kid like my son, he’ll put a pound of cheese on top.
